AGM

AGM

It’s the time of year when we need to have our annual general meeting to comply with scouting regulations.  As Plymouth has a high number of Covid cases and we are under enhanced Covid measures we think it would be irresponsible to have the big AGM with activities for the young people as we have had in the past and we will therefore be having a zoom meeting.

We do need to have a process to present the accounts to you all.  You all contribute financially to the group and it is important that you see how the money is spent.  The accounts are available on our website here.  Our treasurer is happy to answer your questions at any time of the year, not just at the AGM.

We also need to appoint the office holders for the coming year.  Our scout group is a registered charity and we need to appoint our trustees correctly.

The current office holders are:

Chair – Brian Boucher

Secretary – Rosie Prout

Treasurer – Rosauro Aala

All three are willing to continue in these roles for the coming year.  However, the AGM would be the occasion for anyone wanting to remove these office holders to do so.

So to allow you to question the treasurer about the accounts and to be able to affect who are the office holders we shall hold a brief AGM on Friday 17 September between 18.15h and 18.30h with a fun ZOOM activity to follow.  The Beavers Cubs and Scouts are not having normal meetings.  Any questions for the office holders can also be sent to them via the section leaders.

We are always keen to welcome others onto the executive committee and in fact we need people to take some of the strain off our amazing leaders behind the scenes so that they can get on with planning and delivering the weekly programmes.

We are specifically in need of people to help maintain and keep an eye on our equipment including an inventory, volunteers to help maintain our website and keep it current  and someone to help ensure  risk assessments and safety and maintenance at our campsite at Shaugh.   Please let us know if you can help and you don’t have to be a parent to do these jobs so think about your wider family and friends for us.
